CAPPSA Pharmacy Mentor Program

Many students today are facing a rapidly changing and uncertain health care environment especially those interested in the practice of pharmacy, nursing and medicine to name a few. In response to the need for students to gain a better understanding of the wide variety of career opportunities within pharmacy, a mentoring practice experience has been created.

Cameroonian Association of Pharmacist & Pharmaceutical Scientist in America (CAPPSA) is an association of Pharmacist, Pharmaceutical Scientist and other related health care professionals residing in the United States of America. www.cappsa.net . With community service in mind, and the zeal to bridge the gap between practicing pharmacist and candidates pharmacist and/or those students interested in becoming pharmacy candidates, this mentoring program was developed to provide a networking platform for all interested parties.

The mentor program provides an opportunity for students interested in the field of pharmacy and those already in pharmacy programs across the nation to get familiar with the various steps, opportunities and challenges in the field of pharmacy. By working one-on-one with practicing pharmacists as mentors, students will be encouraged to build a strong support network and foundation for making career decisions.

The primary goal of this program is to demonstrate early pharmacy practice experience by introducing pharmacy inclined students to professional career opportunities under the mentorship of pharmacists working in a variety of practice and business settings. Other goals include

  • Providing a structured mentoring network capable of assisting the mentee in defining career goals, developing a career plan, and identifying continuing education/skill development needs.
  • providing an environment that fosters a sense of well-being and acceptance
  • Assisting candidates in the application process for pharmacy school and residency, interviewing, CV writing, etc.
