Because the current framework within CAMSA does not provide a means of interaction between
upperclassmen/professionals and college freshmen/sophomores , the executive branch of CAMSA has
found the need to create a “Buddy” community. This form of interaction seeks to provide academic,
career and financial-aid advice for incoming freshmen/sophomores , or students new to US colleges/universities.
The Buddy program will be primarily composed of upperclassmen and/or professionals in various majors who
will discuss through a forum, mentoring/tutoring issues to lowerclassmen in universities/ colleges nationwide.
These tutors will be paired with a set of tutees according to their area of academic proficiency.
TUOTRS / MENTORS
Tutors shall be graduating seniors, graduate students or recent graduates of an accredited college/university
in the USA . These tutors should possess knowledge in the field they wish to tutor/mentor. They should have
accomplished a lot in terms of acquiring scholarships, high GPA, successful career goals etc.
A D D E N D U M
Finding a Tutor/Mentor :
A forum will be created on the CAMSA website for Tutees to declare their majors, and provide a brief
educational biography. Tutees will then be matched with a mentor/tutor that best matches their criteria,
and the communication will begin. Prospective tutees are encouraged to utilize this resource fully.
One can always learn an extra tip while pursuing a college education.
Application Process for Tutors/ Mentors :
Each prospective Tutor/Mentor shall submit their resume to the CAMSA national president, and indicate the
specific area and/or departments that s/he wishes to tutor in. The CAMSA board will then determine which
of the areas the applicant may tutor in according to the criteria detailed above.

While access to scholarly articles and various books are readily available to the average student
in a US college or University, we can not deny the fact that the campus libraries at our Cameroon
universities are poorly equipped of relevant academic resources for students. Recognizing the fact
that most students in the US have many books they used in college lying on their book shelves with
no intention or need to ever flip a page again, CAMSA-USA is collecting these books to augment the
library collection at various Cameroon Universities. If you have access to free book depositories,
please contacts us at
nec@camsa-usa.org
We are accepting books on every topic: humanities and social studies, education, hard sciences,
medicine, pharmacy, social work, business/accounting, science fiction, non-fiction etc.
Let's help our brothers and sisters get the training they deserved.

According to the United Nations Population Division, Cameroon's population in 1999 was about 15 million.
Adults, aged 15 to 49, the group most likely to engage in high risk behavior for HIV infection,
represented approximately 46 percent of the total population. The HIV prevalence rate among this g
roup was estimated by UNAIDS to be 7.7 percent (For every 13 Cameroonian adults, one (1) is infected
with the HIV virus).

By the end of 1999, 500,000 adults and children were living with HIV and AIDS
in Cameroon and more than 270,000 children had been orphaned due to AIDS. Despite the development,
by our Government in 2000, of the Plan Strategique National de Lutte Contre le SIDA, 2000- 2005
(National Plan Against AIDS, 3er Draft) that focuses on 20 different areas to address this epidemic,
the number of Cameroonians living with HIV-AIDS and those orphaned from AIDS has continued to
increase as noted in the recent Report by the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS: UNAIDS (2006).
In spite of the numerous educational, ethical, financial and socio-cultural barriers to the fight
against HIV/AIDS, CAMSA-USA is determined to contribute morally, educationally and financially to
effectively counter the devastating effects of this epidemic in our society. Project HIV/AIDS
targets children orphaned by this disease, and seeks to empower Cameroonian women and youths.
This Campaign involves a vigorous education of the public on the practice of safe-sex and
"Living with HIV/AIDS." We are also targeting various orphanages catering for these children
to provide financial, moral and educational assistance. As a community and society, we cannot and
should not sit back and relax while half a million of our brothers and sisters succumb to this
epidemic. Please, join our campaign today. Together we can move mountains.
DONATE TODAY to save a life.
