Hello All!

I’m sad to say that this is my last letter to you as the National President of the Cameroon Students Association in these United States of America. At the same time, I'm very happy because I have complete confidence in the next team of leadership that we have. As I transition to my new role as the chairman of the board of Former CAMSA presidents I want to congratulate Mr. Emmanuel Tabi who will be leading our organization for the next two years. The years have gone by very fast for me and my executive team, during this period, I gave my expertise, imparted skills and learned some life lessons.

During the past two years, I learned that CAMSA-USA is run by a few group of dedicated students who give all their expertise and time for the success of their fellow students. Based on meetings with local chapters within the United States and student groups around the globe, I have more empathy for what it takes to run an organization such as the Cameroon Students Association in the United States. The strategic and developmental planning that is required - while at the same time keeping students happy, maintaining the honor and integrity of our organization's vision, while still being open to innovative change has been very crucial. It has been a significant learning curve for me and one which I undoubtedly learned a great deal from.

I also need to acknowledge the executives and committee members of the Cameroon Students Association whose ideas, dedication and commitment led to the implementation and success of the following projects.

Fall Bush Program: Facilitating the admission and travel of over 100 new Cameroonian students pursuing a new academic life in US schools (Nelson Achu and Franklin Fru )
Education: Collecting and shipping over 15000 books to the Garoua American Corner Public Library, the baffoussam, Limbe, lebialem and Lewoh libraries. Forging relationships with the peace-corps and other organizations in Cameroon to facilitate book donations. (Eric Njoteh, Joyce Mumah, Alice Tomdio)
Scholarships: Delivering scholarships to needy students in the United States (Education committee)
Organizing the first ever CAMSA-USA Golf Tournament to ship books to Cameroon (Guillaume Macfongim, Mboe Martin, Eric Tchinjo)
Upgrading the website www.camsa-usa.org to segment members by state and making it more user friendly (Admin)
Helping students in difficult times in schools across the country (Admin)
Organizing successful membership drives and recruiting more than 300 students to join the organization (Vanjelis Ngwa, Collins Dibaki)
Social: Organized and took part in events to keep students engaged with the community including conventions (Tabi Emmanuel, Eric Befidi, Lila, Lora Fogam, Loretta Ashu, Mirabel Toh, Ngole, Judith Atem, Ernest “Dohbi” and members of local chapters)
and making Volunteering for America a success (Admin, community leaders)

At CAMSA-USA Inc. we continually face challenges - how we view them defines us! We need to see these challenges as stepping-stones and work for the improvement of our country and our community. Finally, I'm truly grateful for the role that the Cameroonian community, the American Community and donor organizations have played within the past two years for our success.

Our next convention will be taking place in Washington DC during the second weekend of August 2011, following our tradition.
As you read this mail, remember that there is a student that needs a text book, a student who needs an exercise book and a student who needs school fees and a student who simply needs guidance, just to name a few. You can do something about it! Visit www.camsa-usa.org to donate and help the next administrations projects.
